15 Beauty Products To Try Now!

March 30, 2016

I recently posted a pic on Instagram of my desk [see below] and one of my good friends immediately texted me in shock over the amount of lip glosses I own. I kinda thought this was totally normal!

Isn’t it?!!

Desk Inspo, Desk Decor, Makeup Vanity

You see, I’ve always been a bit of a makeup junkie. Over time that has expanded to hair products. With my sister being a hairdresser, she certainly enables my addiction by bringing home the latest and greatest for me to try. And now that I can acknowledge I’m no longer an invincible 20 something year old, I’ve started to really take an interest in good skincare. Oh – and I guess I shouldn’t leave out that my nail polish collection is quite embarrassingly ridiculous. It’s possible I may have as many color options as your local salon.

So here I am…a full blown beauty product whore. Yep. That’s me.

This list could have easily been tripled, but I wanted to narrow things down and highlight products that I’m really really loving these days. Some of you may or may not be familiar with them, but I stand behind each and every one of these. I’m constantly getting new products to try and test out, so will continue to keep you posted on anything worthy of sharing! So here goes it!

15 Beauty Products To Try Now:

1. SheaMoisture Black African Soap with Shea Butter

$4.59

African Black Soap

This soap was recommended to me by an Esthetician over a year ago while I was still nursing my daughter and I’ve been using it almost every morning and every evening since. During my pregnancy, and even after Harley was born, I was really wanting to use products that didn’t contain harsh chemicals. This soap is designed to cleanse, hydrate and calm problem skin. It leaves your skin feeling squeaky clean! [Just be sure to follow up with a good moisturizer.] Not only does this soap work wonders on all different skin types, BUT it is LESS THAN $5!!! People spend SO much money on skincare, so wouldn’t it be great to have a product that works and doesn’t break the bank?!! They even sell an entire African Black Soap Acne Care Kit for less than $20. You seriously can’t beat that!

2. Physician’s Formula Argan Wear Glow Oil

$14.99

best argan oil, 100% argan oil

Physician’s Formula sent me a box of goodies last August and I have been hooked to this ever since! I’m currently on my 3rd bottle! It’s 100% Pure Argan Oil, which some call “liquid gold” due to its rich conditioning benefits. It can improve skin’s brightness, tone, texture and elasticity. I use it every night. You can mix it with a night time moisturizer or use it on its own. A few drops go a long way and it doesn’t leave you feeling greasy or oily. There are so many benefits to Argan Oil and it can be used on your lips, hair, skin, and cuticles. I used to pay more than 3 times the amount of this bottle for a different brand sold at Sephora. Like the African Black Soap mentioned above, if you are pregnant and nursing and are wanting to avoid harsh chemicals, use this product!! I love the way it makes my skin look!

3. Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara

$6.99

best drugstore mascara

I happen to like a lot of mascaras from all different brands, but this one is currently my go to drugstore one after a really talented makeup artist shared with me that this was by far her all time favorite. I do also really like the L’Oréal Voluminous Mascara and L’Oréal’s Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara, but again, have been preferring to use this Maybelline one more often. The brush is fantastic and gets all of my lashes. Adds volume and length!

4. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

$23.00

best mascara

For high end mascaras, I have really tried them all! Diorshow and It Cosmetics are two other good ones. While the name “Better Than Sex” is sure to grab your attention along with the pretty packaging, I do think this mascara holds up to its hype. It makes my lashes look full, long, and super black. I only use this mascara on my top lashes because I found it to have some fallout throughout the day when applied on my lower lashes.

5. COVERGIRL Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation

$7.99

Covergirl Ready Set

About 2 years ago, I was traveling to New York for the weekend and forgot my makeup bag at home. I had some work meetings and was going out to meet friends, so didn’t want to be completely barefaced. The random drugstore I went into was completely picked through and had almost nothing in my shade, so I got this COVERGIRL one and hoped for the best. Four random people complimented my skin that weekend! This foundation provides light to medium coverage, while blending into your skin beautifully. I do set this foundation with a powder.

6. Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation

$43

best foundation

Make Up For Ever recently sent me a package of this foundation in multiple shades. I wasn’t so eager to try it because back in the day I had it and remembered it being too thick for my liking. I decided to try it anyway, and oh my goodness, am SO happy I did! It is NOTHING like I remember! This foundation is thin and blends right into my skin, while providing great coverage. It really looks natural and makes my skin look flawless in person and in pictures. This is in no way sponsored. When companies “gift” me products, there is zero obligation on my end to post about it and if I truly don’t love it, I would never tell you otherwise! I have a lot of foundations that I use based on the weather, my skin color [it can vary depending if I’m in the sun or not], and skin texture. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is another favorite high end foundation that looks beautiful on my skin!

7. Becca X Jaclyn Hill Shimmer Skin Perfecter in Champagne Pop

$38

best highlighter

Jaclyn Hill is a spunky, energetic, and famous Vlogger who worked as a makeup artist at MAC before her YouTube career kicked off. Highlighting has always been something she talked about in her videos as she loves creating glowy, luminous looks. She joined forces with Becca to create the perfect highlight. I do agree that $38 is a bit steep, especially if highlighting isn’t part of your regular makeup routine, but this product truly does give a beautiful glow to your skin and Champagne Pop is a color that can be worn on so many different skin shades. This highlight is very pigmented, so I would recommend tapping some product off the brush before applying to your skin.

8. Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

$44

best dry shampoo, best hair product

Words can not express my love for this product! It acts as a light holding spray, root lifter, and even a dry shampoo! It’s clear, invisible, smells amazing and gives you that “just left the hair salon” look. It helps my hair stay fresh and look great for days. I promise you, it is worth every penny!!!

9. Hourglass Cosmetics Veil Mineral Primer Oil Free SPF 15

$18 or $52 [depending on size]

Hourglass Veil

Prepping your skin before makeup application is often overlooked, but is SO important! This primer feels like silk and helps fill in large pores and fine lines, allowing foundation to glide on smoothly. This also helps your makeup stay on from morning till night! I’d suggest starting with the smaller bottle at $18 because a little product goes a long way! I use about a pea size per use…maybe even less. Hourglass really makes some wonderful products! I just started using the Ambient Lighting Powder and am in love!

10. Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Powder Bronzer

$37

best bronzer

This is my newest bronzer obsession. I like a mostly matte finish that won’t look orange in any way shape or form. I wear the color Medium and in blends in beautifully with my skin. It looks super natural and is long wearing. When viewing the bronzer in the compact, you’ll see a few hints of sparkle or sheen, but when it transfers to your skin, you’ll see more of a natural glow than individual specks of sparkle. Estée has an entire Bronze Goddess Collection.

11. TULA Exfoliating Treatment Mask

$54

best face mask

This mask is gentle, yet effective. It visibly reduces the appearance of pores and it leaves my skin feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and super smooth!

12. Physician’s Formula Argan Wear Blush in Natural

$12.99

best blush, best drugstore blush, best affordable blush

If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know I love this blush! It’s high quality, gives a natural glow, lasts all day, and really is the prettiest pink! The gold glitter shown in the compact goes away with a quick swipe of a brush. I’d compare this to the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush [in dollhouse] which is another great blush…just more expensive.

13. Organic Coconut Oil

$11.99

coconut oil for beauty

There are endless ways to incorporate Coconut Oil into your every day skincare and beauty routine. I keep a jar in my shower and use it as shaving cream and a weekly deep conditioning treatment for my hair. It’s also thee best eye makeup remover! Just take a Q-tip or washcloth, dip it in the jar, and gently remove your eye makeup. You can also use it as a lip balm, under eye cream, breath freshener, body lotion, massage oil, scar healer, makeup-brush cleaner…I swear, the list goes on and on.

Argan Oil and Coconut Oil have a ton of similarities, but I use them both for different reasons. A $15 jar of Argan Oil contains much less product than a $15 jar of Coconut Oil, so I use Argan Oil on my face as a nighttime moisturizer [I also prefer how it absorbs into my skin without feeling greasy] and then Coconut Oil is used on my hair and body.

14. My Amazing Blow Dry Secret Dry Shampoo Sheer Spray

$21.50

best dry shampoo, dry shampoo review

As mentioned before, the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray is a great substitute for dry shampoo, but that isn’t its primary purpose. My sister loves My Amazing Blow Dry Secret products and really wanted me to try this one since I always bitched complained that most dry shampoos left a yucky residue on my scalp. And the one that is tinted brown is nice in theory, but is super messy and leaves a brown residue on your walls, counters, and whatever else you’re standing next to. This dry shampoo is awesome!

15. Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium Finish

$23.30

best hairspray

I loathe most hairspray. The way it smells. The way it feels. I used to be able to avoid it, but my hair has changed drastically since giving birth to Harley [damn hormones], so I do need a little bit of spray to help hold a curl or keep strays in place. I typically opt for a “flexible” or “light hold,” but after using this Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray  I don’t know that I will ever switch to another kind! It smells DELICIOUS and even with a “medium hold” my hair is still soft and I can easily run my fingers through my hair without them getting sticky.

I hope this post was helpful! I would love to hear from you guys in the comments below if you have tried any of these or strongly recommend certain products that you think I should try! I appreciate any and all suggestions!!

Thanks Courtney!!! My only problem is I truly love so many products, haha, but really did my best to narrow it down to just 15. I will be doing more beauty related posts as well as starting some YouTube vlogs, so if you have any suggestions or recommendations, please let me know! XO Jaime

I love this! I’ve never really been much of a beauty junkie, always hating too much clutter, but I love all of these products that you featured! I have such a hard time finding a mascara that I love. I’m going to have to try some of these out. I’m also serious about the CoverGirl foundation! Lucky for me, I just ran out! 😉
