Striped Long Sleeve Tee [only $19 and comes in 6 colors!] // White Maternity Jeans c/o Ingrid & Isabel // Karen Walker Sunnies // Earrings c/o Baublebar // Leopard Flats // Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM// Lipstick [Kim K W] with this Lipliner [Pillowtalk]
Pattern mixing [correctly] can often be intimidating. Some girls and guys truly have it mastered, while others miss the boat completely. There’s definitely a fine line of looking really cool or looking a bit silly. Because of that, I tend to err on the side of caution and stick to more basic and neutral patterns. Today’s outfit is the perfect example of how you can pattern mix like a pro with leopard and stripes.
Stripes are probably the easiest pattern to start with when considering pattern mixing. They go well with just about anything! In the fall, I love stripes paired with camo [see it styled here] and with plaid [see an example here]. It also looks great with florals! This long sleeve striped tee is a must have! It’s only $19, and the length of it is so good. There are slits on each side and it has a slight high/low hem, so the back slightly covers the tush. I own it in a solid white and an ivory with black stripe. It comes in 6 colors total.
You’ve heard me say it a million times, but leopard is totally a neutral! I feel like it’s been a pattern that I’ve been obsessed with my entire life. Over the years, I’ve always had a go to leopard flat and go to leopard heel. This season, these are definitely my go to leopard flats. They’re fun, comfortable, and chic! Wearing leopard shoes or a leopard clutch is a very simple way to mix and match patterns. See another outfit example here.
With stripes being the most basic pattern of all, and leopard being a neutral, the two of them paired together is a match made in heaven. There are different color variations of stripes and leopard that could work, but I do prefer the two mixed patterns to have a common color. While art teachers out there may yell at me for calling black a “color,” in this outfit example, black is that common hue!
Lastly, I want to point out these Ingrid & Isabel jeans. They are maternity, but honestly, you wouldn’t even know it! They have a regular zipper and button with stretch panels to each side. They feel comfortable sitting just underneath my belly, and I love that I can still tuck in or half tuck my tops should I want. I love them so much that I own them in a dark blue AND grey wash!
On a completely separate note, I do want to thank those who reached out to me these past two weeks to check in on my family and home during/after Hurricane Irma. It was a very long, stressful week of prep, dealing with the hurricane [and tornadoes], and then the aftermath. Today’s the first day I feel recovered from it. We really got so lucky and walked away safely with no damage to our home. While I’m thankful for that, my heart hurts for those who weren’t so lucky. There are thousands and thousands of people completely devastated from Harvey and Irma, and I strongly encourage you to help in any way you can!
Love this subtle pattern mixing! The stripes look so good with the leopard shoes, so cute!
