Stripes & Boyfriend Jeans

February 25, 2014
Happy Tuesday!  As usual, I’ve been on the go.  Last week I traveled from Charlotte to Florida, and am now in New York.  I have been running on zero sleep (thank goodness for under-eye concealer) and just wish I could crawl into bed and watch Bravo TV for days.  Instead, I have a pretty busy week ahead of me and of course it’s supposed to snow – yet again.  Oye vey!
Boyfriend jeans are one of those things that you either love or hate.  My husband, Casey hates them and I find most men do, but if I allowed him to shop for me or pick out my clothing, I’d look like a 16 year old prostitute.  No exaggeration.  I do agree that they’re not the most flattering, but some days I want a break from my skin tight jeans and opt for a more relaxed look.  This outfit in particular is relatively casual.  I tend to wear heels or booties with them to prevent me from looking like a complete bum or overly frumpy, but it really depends on where I’m going.
I think everyone can pull off boyfriend jeans, but depending on your body type, you may need to search for the right fit as they do come in high, mid, and low rises.  You can wear them full length or cuffed; dark or light washed; belt or no belt.  If you are vertically challenged like me, boyfriend jeans certainly shorten the look of your legs even more so, so stick to a shoe with a heel (nude is the most flattering).  As far as tops go, you could wear a form fitted shirt with or without a blazer, a loose tee semi tucked in, a top that ends about 1/2″ – 1″ above your jeans so your skin slightly shows, or a chunky sweater to name a few options.  I wore this outfit last week while running a few errands and meeting a friend for lunch.
