In case you were suffering from the Monday blues, I hope today’s post brings you a little bit of joy and a smile to your face 🙂 .  My aunt used to always dress the same as my little cousin, and I remember telling her that she needed to stop pronto because it was NOT okay!!  I was so humiliated for her AND especially my poor cousin!  Who does that?!!  Well my friends, isn’t it funny how things change.  At least I can laugh at myself and acknowledge when I’m wrong…or embarrassing myself.  Let’s hope I get over this “twinning” thing by the time Harley starts speaking in full sentences.  Luckily, I have plenty of time to get a few more good matchy matchy outfits out of my system.

From the moment I stumbled upon Camden and Kate’s Instagram [now Haberdash Soul Company], I fell in love.  Baby kimonos?!!  Does it get any cuter than that?!!  [In my mind, the only possible “cuter” scenario would be baby and adult matching kimonos.  And fortunately, they do exist!]  Kimonos are a great “third piece” to complete a look.  If you don’t know what I mean, allow me to elaborate.  If you work in retail or the Fashion world, a lot of people go by the “three-piece rule” which means your outfit comprises of three pieces [not including your shoes].  Obviously your top and bottoms would be pieces one and two, so a blazer, vest, jacket, belt, statement jewelry, hat, etc. would be the third piece.  Some companies have this “three piece dress code” in the hopes that their employees look stylish, well put together and polished.  [You don’t have to stop at three pieces by the way.  There is no max!]  So when it’s 90 degrees outside, like it’s been here in Charlotte, a light weight kimono is the perfect third piece.

I know Harley can’t read and she has absolutely no idea that she’s on my blog, or what a blog even is, but I have to give her a shout out.  The day this little photo-shoot went down, Harley missed her afternoon nap which she rarely does.  [We had her a little wound up from a family pool day.]  She is super scheduled and for those of you who have children, you can understand how important those naps are and how not so fun it can be if they are missed!  She finally passed out in the car 7 minutes before we were planning to take pictures.  I was literally screaming her name and poking her to wake her from her slumber.  [Hey, the show must go on, right?!]  She opened her eyes, stared at me for a second, and then gave me the largest smile ever.  Our photographer, Andi [who has a little boy a few months younger than Harley] was stunned.  She was shocked that I woke her and even more shocked that Harley was so happy.  This shoot may have only lasted a total of 5 minutes, but Harley was loving every second of it!  Perhaps she likes being twinsies with me after all!!

This is seriously precious! I make fun of my mom for dressing me in mini-me outfits that matched her’s when I was younger, but I’m sure I’ll be like you and singing a different tune when I have kids. Ha! Love Harley’s kimono.
