Midi skirts are fun, feminine and should be super flattering. They’re the perfect addition to your Spring wardrobe! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ordered them online with such excitement, thinking I’d look exactly like the 5’9″ size 2 model. But, nope! Wishful thinking, right?! Instead, I felt frumpier than ever and sadly had to return them all. There is hope though for you fellow vertically challenged friends. It’s all about finding the right fit.

For this look I kept things simple. The top is actually supposed to be cropped, which you can’t tell because of my short torso and high waisted skirt. Crop tops paired with midi skirts elongate the body and happen to look fabulous on all different body types. Instead this top and skirt combo just looks like a cute little black dress. Oh well! No biggie!!

Midi skirts come in all different shapes, fabrics, and patterns, so my advice would be to try them all! See what works best on your body and don’t be scared to make a visit to your local tailor if need be. If you’re petite, keep in mind that longer skirts stopping mid calf, can cause a shortening effect. I’ve found that the most flattering style for my body height and shape is when the hem falls just below the knee [like this Chicwish skirt] and is paired with a neutral or strappy high heel.

Today I’m joining Laura from Walking In Memphis In High Heels and Erin from The Fashion Canvas in their TrendSpin Link Up, featuring dresses and skirts. You can link up your look below for the next week!
