In all honesty, I COMPLETELY underestimated the whole Sonoma and Napa areas. Friends and family have raved about northern Cali for years, and I just figured that perhaps they haven’t traveled much… therefore didn’t have anything to compare it to. Boy was I wrong. WAY wrong!
While this vacation was only four whole days, it was one of my favorite trips to date. Casey and I had been talking about going for as long as I can remember, so when the opportunity came to stay and collaborate with the Farmhouse Inn, we were ecstatic!
When it comes to the Farmhouse Inn, I don’t even know where to begin…
If I could describe this property using ten adjectives, this is what they’d be: Luxurious. Cozy. Peaceful. Romantic. Heavenly. Dreamy. Serene. Quiet. Charming. Perfect.
There’s a reason it’s rated the #1 Best Hotel in California by Travel & Leisure, and #12 Best in the World. Yep, the WORLD! From the moment we checked in, the staff made us feel right at home, offering two glasses of wine and encouraging us to help ourselves to an assortment of bath salts, scrubs, and soaps to bring into our room. The lobby area has a DIY S’mores area to take outside by the fire pits, comprised of Valrhona dark chocolate, vanilla bean marshmallows and artisan graham crackers. Are you salivating yet? Because I am!
There’s a total of 25 country-chic guest rooms. Rustic with just the right amount of modern. We stayed in a King Deluxe, which consisted of a large walk in closet with two plush bathrobes, a gorgeous marble bathroom with heated floors, a steam shower and jetted tub, a refrigerator filled with complimentary delicious refreshments, a flat screen tv, an electric indoor/outdoor fire place, and our own private deck.
And that’s not all!
The feather bed was superrrr comfortable, with European linens and a down comforter. Nightly turn down service included the most delicious homemade cookies and milk. Everything about the room was just perfect. It truly was!
Breakfast at the Farmhouse Inn restaurant was an absolute treat. Casey and I both got two different fresh farm egg dishes that were just delicious. We ate here two of the mornings by reservation only.
The Farmhouse Inn restaurant is Michelin Starred, so naturally we had to have dinner there one of the evenings. You only live once, right?! The experience was impeccable and impressive. A meal to remember for sure! The food is from the brother-sister owners, Joe and Catherine’s Bartolomei ranch or local artisan farmers. I really can’t say enough good things about our dining experience here! Overall it was intimate, professional, sophisticated, and most of all, delectable. We had pretty high expectations going into the meal knowing the reviews and accolades, and we did not leave the least bit disappointed.

After breakfast on our second day, Casey and I both got a magical 90 minute massage called The Personal Apothecary at the Spa. We blended our own unique therapeutic treatment oils which were then used during our session. Over a month later, Casey is still talking about this massage and swears it was the best he’s ever had in his entire life. That says a lot coming from the boy who gets massages on the regular.
I’m going to be sharing a separate post, showcasing some of the wineries we went to in a Sonoma Travel Guide, however, I do want to mention that Farmhouse Inn has partnerships with certain wineries, so definitely ask them about that if/when you visit. One of our most memorable moments was a 5 course lunch and wine pairing at Arista Winery, which is not available to the general public. It was out of this world amazing!
We used Destination Drivers of Napa & Sonoma to get us around the two days we were wine tasting. Laurie was super helpful setting things up for us and Brent was our friendly driver, originally from New York so clearly we hit it off. Both Laurie and Brent are super familiar with both Napa and Sonoma [hence the company name], so can help recommend lunch/dinner spots or wineries if needed.
While our stay at Farmhouse Inn was a once in a lifetime experience, I’m praying that it really won’t be the only time we’ll vacation there. I’d go back tomorrow if I could!
This post is brought to you in collaboration with Farmhouse Inn to share my honest review about our stay. I did receive compensation in the form of room c/o Farmhouse Inn. Thanks a million to the staff for treating us like family!
