I’m switching gears today and taking a brief break from my NYFW Guides [be sure to check out Part 1 & Part 2 before the final post goes live]. When Sunflowers and Stilettos launched, [almost 3 years ago! Can you believe it?!] I anticipated health and fitness to be a primary focus, which has not been the case. While I don’t frequently write about it, it is something that is extremely important to me and my family. Towards the end of 2012, around the time we got married, Casey went Whole 30 which is based off of the paleo diet. While I was never as strict as he [I love cheese and carbs], we completely changed the way we grocery shopped and cooked, and for the most part ate clean, whole foods consisting of healthy fats, lean meats, tons of veggies and fruit.
Since the holiday season, I can honestly say that I have been way off my routine. I’ve been eating out more, drinking wine several nights a week, and have allowed myself to overindulge in one too many less than healthy treats. I’ve been feeling lethargic, unmotivated, and rundown which is so not me. I’m not into diets, but I am into making positive lifestyle changes, so it’s time I get my act together!
To help give me a head start in getting my health back on track, I’m going to be doing a 30 day detox with TeaMi Blends, a US based company that sells 100% all natural, non-GMO loose-leaf Vegan tea. Alongside eating healthy and staying active, I am hoping TeaMi detoxes my body of harmful toxins that may be preventing me to digest food properly, while keeping my energy levels up and my bloating down. I’m also taking two probiotics: Garden of Life Primal Defense Ultra and Garden of Life Raw Probiotics Ultimate Care AND drinking plenty of water!
The teatox includes a 30 day supply of TeaMi’s Skinny loose-leaf tea and 15 colon cleanse tea bags that is used every other evening, starting from the second day. The Skinny tea is a blend of Oolong, Yerba Mate, Lime leaf Extract, Lotus leaf, Ginger Root, Dandelion leaf and Rhubarb Root. The Colon Cleanse is a blend of Senna Leaf & Root, Hawthorn Berry Extract, Lotus Leaf, Lime Leaf & Extract, Psyllium Husk Seed, Phaseolus Calcaratus Seed, Rhubarb Root, Poria Cocos Stem Bark and Valerian Root. Say that 5 times fast, haha!!
I just started, so while I can’t vouch [yet] that this really works, I will tell you that the tea tastes delicious [you can always add lemon or honey if you like] and one of my friends is halfway through her 30 day detox and said she feels amazing! The goal of TeaMi is to boost your metabolism, burn stored fat, calm muscle spasms and muscle tightness, naturally raise energy levels, reduce bloating, improve skin complexion, flush out harsh toxins, and help with digestive issues, so needless to say, if it does any of those things for me I will be one happy girl! I’m not using the tea for weight loss purposes, but if that happens to be a side effect, I’m not gonna complain!!
Can’t wait to share with you guys my results at the end of the 30 days. If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to ask me or visit TeaMi’s website for more information.
